Founded:
SRDI was founded in 1978 as a U.S. Non-Profit, 501-c-3, Pro Bono Incorporated Educational Organization (for information see Encyclopedia of Associations). The Annual Business Meeting is held in Iowa City in November.
Mission:
The Mission of SRDI is to Serve and to Advocate Special Play and Recreation for People with Disabilities; Play for Infants and Children and Recreations for Youth, Adults, and Seniors.
